MR Angiography of Neck Vessels
MR angiography (MRA) of the neck vessels is a non-invasive imaging technique used to evaluate the carotid and vertebral arteries supplying the brain.
Impaired blood flow in these vessels may increase the risk of cerebral ischemia and stroke.
Indications
- headache and dizziness;
- tinnitus;
- hearing or vision impairment;
- visual disturbances;
- loss of consciousness;
- coordination or memory problems;
- limb numbness or weakness;
- neck trauma.

Conditions Detected
- aneurysms;
- arteriovenous malformations;
- arterial stenosis or occlusion;
- arterial dissection;
- atherosclerosis;
- external compression by tumors;
- congenital vascular anomalies;
- thrombosis and embolism;
- vasculitis.
MRA of the neck is often performed together with cerebral MRA for comprehensive cerebrovascular assessment.
